Modeling of Spiral Structure in a Multi-Component Milky Way-Like Galaxy

چکیده
Using recent observational data, we construct a set of multi-component equilibrium models the disk Milky Way-like galaxy. The dynamics are studied using collisionless-gaseous numerical simulations, based on joined integration equations motion for collision-less particles direct gravitational interaction and gaseous SPH-particles. We find that after approximately one Gyr, prominent central bar is formed having semi-axis length about three kpc, together with multi-armed spiral pattern represented by superposition m= 2-, 3-, 4-armed spirals. structure exist at least 3 Gyr in our simulations. existence Way imposes limitations density distributions subsystems does not form if radial scale distribution exceeds 2.6 kpc. As expected, formation also suppressed compact massive stellar bulge. demonstrate maximum value rotation curve galaxy, as found its regions, explained non-circular due to presence orientation relative an observer.

The spiral structure of the outer Milky Way in hydrogen.
We produce a detailed map of the perturbed surface density of neutral hydrogen in the outer Milky Way disk, demonstrating that the Galaxy is a non-axisymmetric multiarmed spiral. Spiral structure in the southern half of the Galaxy can be traced out to at least 25 kiloparsecs, implying a minimum radius for the gas disk. Overdensities in the surface density are coincident with regions of reduced ...
متن کاملThe local spiral structure of the Milky Way
The nature of the spiral structure of the Milky Way has long been debated. Only in the last decade have astronomers been able to accurately measure distances to a substantial number of high-mass star-forming regions, the classic tracers of spiral structure in galaxies. We report distance measurements at radio wavelengths using the Very Long Baseline Array for eight regions of massive star forma...
متن کاملChemodynamical Simulations of the Milky Way Galaxy
We present chemodynamical simulations of a Milky Way-type galaxy using a selfconsistent hydrodynamical code that includes supernova feedback and chemical enrichment, and predict the spatial distribution of elements from Oxygen to Zinc. In the simulated galaxy, the kinematical and chemical properties of the bulge, disk, and halo are consistent with the observations. The bulge formed from the ass...
متن کاملBlack holes in the milky way galaxy.
Extremely strong observational evidence has recently been found for the presence of black holes orbiting a few relatively normal stars in our Milky Way Galaxy and also at the centers of some galaxies. The former generally have masses of 4-16 times the mass of the sun, whereas the latter are "supermassive black holes" with millions to billions of solar masses. The evidence for a supermassive bla...
متن کاملGalaxy Formation: Clues from the Milky Way
Stellar Populations are the fossil record of Galactic evolution. Interpretation of this record in the Local Group allows one to determine reliably the dominant physics controlling the evolution of those galaxies which are typical of the luminosity in the Universe, and is an essential prerequisite to understanding necessarily limited data at high redshifts. In our Galaxy, the key issues are the ...
